Budget Update - December 9, 2009
Governor Gregoire announced a supplemental budget proposal this morning to address a $2.6 billion deficit in state revenue. Under her budget proposal, the Community Health Services program would be eliminated effective June 30, 2010.

Due to pending program closure SFY 2011 Notice of Intent and CHS Grant Application will not be available at this time. CHS will update program status information for SFY 2011 if there are any changes.
We assure access to primary medical and dental care through grant funding to 36 non-profit organizations with 175 clinic delivery sites that provide services to more than 273,000 patients who are at or below 200% Federal Income Guidelines (FIG) with no insurance by:
- Working with communities and clinics to maintain and expand access primary medical and dental care for the uninsured and underinsured.
- Conducting technical site visits to monitor contract compliance and to provide assistance as needed.
- Partnering with private non-profit organizations, governmental agencies, tribes, and others to minimize health care barriers and enhance quality of health care for all.
We coordinate and manage relationships between the Health Care Authority (HCA) and tribes by:
- Working with the Governor's Office of Indian Affairs, tribal entities, and tribal organizations to minimize health care barriers and enhance quality of health care.
- Collaborating with tribes and tribal entities to identify opportunities for partnerships in HCA program areas.
